Jesse Trees (named from Isaiah 11:1: A shoot will spring forth from the stump of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots) offer a way to trace Jesus' family line or the story of salvation with a different symbol for each day of Advent. It's a great way of anticipating Christmas.

A Jesse tree, whether at home or in church, can be either a banner or a poster on a wall, with the symbols fastened to it; or a small tree or bare branch, with the symbols hung on it. Suggestions for the symbols and Bible references can be found in the links. Some sites offer downloadable symbols which can be printed and coloured in; others have suggestions for symbols made from felt or craft materials.
